Advocacy for people with mental-health challenges can include clearer stories, better education, and stronger connections among communities, professionals, and creative collaborators.
Dr. Cohen's work brings together a continuum of companies and projects dedicated to support through mental-health storytelling, Therapeutic Advertising®, Film/Video-Based Therapy® education, and related collaborations.
Storytelling as advocacy
The work uses film, video, digital storytelling, education, and public conversation to make experiences more understandable and to support thoughtful communication. Advocacy and education are distinct from psychotherapy and do not make clinical-outcome claims.

Film/Video-Based Therapy® education
Education about Film/Video-Based Therapy® can help professionals understand the history, research, and boundaries of using filmmaking and video within appropriately guided therapeutic and educational contexts.
The Cinematherapy archive preserves related history, including the 1997 Colorado College seminar with Dr. Gary Solomon.
I Was There film workshops
The I Was There film workshops with Benjamin Patton included work with veterans. They are part of the documented history of using filmmaking and storytelling to support expression, learning, and community.
Dr. Tuval-Mashiach's therapeutic filmmaking research is another documented reference point in the field's ongoing conversation.
Boundaries and collaboration
Advocacy, education, coaching, and psychotherapy are different kinds of work. Coaching and creative consultation can support project development; psychotherapy belongs with an appropriately licensed professional. The right boundary depends on the project's purpose, participants, and professional roles.
